The Whitesands is one of the main highlights of our town, don't destroy it.

Save the town from distruction. It's been fine for hundreds of years so why make it worse!! Listen to what the people of Dumfries actually want and say!!

If they build the proposed 2m wall along the Dock Park how will residential areas the other side of the river be affected.the Park rarely floods, it seems to me the council is more concerned about the Park than people's homes, particularly affected would be East Riverside Drive

Please Save The Sands, I have so many fond childhood memories of visiting The Sands with my mum and dad. My mum was born in the Parish Of Kirkconnel growing up outside Sanquhar!! :-) Regards Helen Jeancharles

Another waste of tax payer money. Would be better 're locating shops and pubs that do flood and make a big car park on sands for the few times it dose flood dose not make sense.

Since I was a little girl the one image I had was that of the bridge and the area around Whitesands. With the economy of small townships like Dumfries struggling, there should be a greater emphasis put on tourism to help your people. I live in Australia and know that there are many who travel to your beautiful country for the history and beauty of the townships. Instead of destroying one of the most iconic parts of your town, why not build on it. Don't destroy it with an ugly earth bund.

Come up with another idea

I like the 'look' of the idea, however I just don't think it'll work. What's going to happen if it goes over again, all the money spent on the landscaping would be ruined. Also taking away the parking spaces, there is a lack of them as it is! Especially free parking. Bad idea.

The local council need to take heed of what the people of Dumfries want for the town. They were voted in as representatives not as individuals with their own personal agendas!

I no longer live in Dumfries but still visit family. Over the years i've come to see it as a run down town with an unimaginative council that has little vision when it comes to reviving it. It seems typical that an expensive, unattractive option should be sought to tackle flooding. Dumfries cannot pride itself on it's town centre, run down buildings or closed shops but it can pride itself on it's natural beauty, of which the river is a massive part. Don't spoil something that is a source of pride and enjoyment for residents and tourists alike. Choose the option that will take this away, and fir once listen to the town's residents.

I totally Disagree with the councils decision to form an earth bund , The river and Devorgilla bridge ,is an attraction. And there approach is totally wrong .It is not what the people of Dumfries want .it would be another wrong decision by our council .
