Protect the scenic beauty of the historic Welsh Church, before it is too late!
A proposal has been submitted to build a large 40’x60’x22’ pole barn directly across from the 1876 Welsh Church historical landmark in Nelson, NY. The proposed barn would also include a parking area for large farm equipment and other potential eye sores, destroying the scenic beauty and views of this beautiful piece our town, state, and national history. This would substantially have an adverse effect upon the scenic vista surrounding the historic Welsh Church and disrupt our communities ability to enjoy the well preserved character, heritage and sprawling open views this area has maintained for over 100 years.
We are asking that they move the location of this proposed giant pole barn to another site in order to protect the views of the Welsh Church and it's scenic vistas.

It would be a travesty to ruin our beautiful landscape with this barn. There will never again be a Welsh Church. We are so fortunate to still have it in our great town!
This beauty, history, and setting of this church is VERY important to me and to my family. My husband and I were married there, as was our son and several friends. We also bought a plot for our burial in the cemetery next door.. The building described would be a terrible eye sore. Please stop it!
My sister's grave is in the pretty little cemetery by Welsh Church. My nephew is buried there. It has been a spot of beauty and peaceful contemplation that would be totally overwhelmed by any obstruction of the views. Please do not allow the building of the proposed pole barn, and help the builders to find another location that will not disrupt the harmony of the view.
I lived with my large family directly across from the Welsh Church for 40 years and two of my daughters and our best friends were married there. It would be an affront to future generations to allow this pole barn directly across from the Church.
I just wish it was being built on a different piece of their property where it doesn't effect the view if the church.
Please keep. The Old Welsh Church in its pristine setting. A pole barn across from it will destroy that beautiful locale.

The Welsh church and surrounding vista are precious. A large barn and farm equipment would mar this special landscape for ours and generations to come.
