Sex is binary and immutable and therefore incredibly important for all things legal. Replacing it with gender is ludicrous.

Women and children need the law to safeguard them. This self ID law does exactly the opposite and allows offenders the right to be in spaces with women and children when they are at thier most vulnerable Eg changing rooms. If a person has gone through puberty as a male no matter what surgery they have they will always retain larger lungs bigger heart denser muscle mass longer leg bones and all the other advantages that are not removed with transition. Not sure but I think more than 80% of people calling themselves women still have male genitalia.

Gender self ID erases women and girls sex based rights to single sex spaces and sports. Men are not and never will be women. It’s a ludicrous assertion to make that as soon as a man self declares that he’s a woman that he can legally enter women’s spaces, spaces where women and girls are in a state of undress or asleep. Women and girls have a right to privacy, dignity and safety to carry out private acts and to undress away from the male gaze and from predatory males who would do them harm. What about women’s sex based rights? Why is no one listening to women in all of this? Why are the rights of men who claim they have special “feminine” feelings more important than women and girls privacy, dignity and safety rights?

If women aren't given adequate measures to ensure they have their own spaces, then it is not sufficiently considering their right to have their wellbeing protected from any offenders from the opposite sex. Obfuscating this is dangerous, and is the least compassionate view overall.

These Gender self identity laws will undermine the rights of half the population and the fact that the government has not allowed time for public scrutiny and debate shows how little regard they have for women.

This is a mockery of women's rights. It opens the door to abuse on so many levels.

The movement to abolish sex as a legal and social category is a top-down misogynist and homophobic drive to put women and lesbians (back) in our place (assigned by men for millenia under male rule). We will continue to resist and fight for our full liberation. Lesbians and other women have rights, too--rights to associate, to access lesbian/women only space, and to refuse body dissociation and trans conversion. Women and lesbians need to be proud of our bodies, our friendships with each other, and our lesbian sexuality.

Laws must recognise the sex-based rights of women. Men can never become women, even if they really want to.

I’m extremely disturbed at the notion of the implementation of ‘gender based spaces’. Extremely dangerous for women and children particularly at a time where we are trying promote safety for women and children. I whole heartedly reject the notion of ‘shared’ PERSONAL spaces.

Sex not gender. Removing the existing rights of women and girls is not inclusivity

I’ve been a doctor for five decades but hope that my world view not be dismissed as geriatrically conservative.
There are undoubtedly young people who can benefit from medical help to alter their body to better align with view of self. The conundrum is how to correctly identify them and how to deal with the urgency to initiate treatments before pubertal changes. If self-identification leads to irreversible interventions without compassionate but thorough enquiry, including psychological assessment, into the appropriateness for each individual, much harm can be done. The profound regrets of people who come to feel that they began or completed the journey in error make harrowing reading. The politicised and hostile outbursts in this polarised debate are lamentable. Nothing is served by refusing to make space to hear each other. The legislators need to stay out of this. It’s too complex and critical a debate to be warped by expedient garnering of votes.
