This makes no sense! Not only would the river views be ruined, but it would serve the community better to put the lines under the water and protect them from storms and ice.

To spoil a view says is the one that exists from the Rappahannock bridge into the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay would be a crime!

Why must we accept Dominion's plan to destroy the beauty of our beloved river and bridge? Do Not allow our treasured entry to the Northern Neck be swallowed up by the dominance of big power companies who only care about the bottom line....Dollars! Demand they do what's right....bury a cable on the river bottom. Demand they protect and preserve what we love and honor.

The proposal is inappropriate for a view shed of this quality. The Northern Neck has a major economic dependency on visitors to the area. The Dominion proposal creates a permanent eyesore. Dominion have the resources to implement an underwater/ground solution and should be required to do so.

What an atrocious drawing! I understand rationale for relocating line but not this way. It would be logical to run line underground. Yes, there would be increased cost but justified. Perhaps Dominion could cut back on arts/humanities grants for a period of time. This area would accept less grant money in view of retaining the the vista. Just imagine what this would do to property values in the area.
The company needs to put this on hold and schedule a hearing in the local area, not Newport News, with adequate notification.

Robert you are exactly Right. Dominion's mode of operation however is go cheap, go ugly, for the biggest return for their shareholders while treating Virginia's natural, historical and cultural resources as their own commodities! Its unconscionable behavior that is morally incomprehensible. The cost of submerging these lines pales compared to the loss of these treasured resources being marred with outdated electrical infrastructure blight. The best thing the Town of Kilmarnock did was burry all those unsightly power lines in the Steptoes district when then did the town revitalization. Heck yeah it was costly but it was worth every penny!!

The petition requests that Dominion put the lines on the river bottom, not on wooden poles. I'm oit sure 100'+ wooden poles would be an option. Alternatively, they could attach them to the bridge superstructure like the current lines. The objection is to a whole series of "H" poles parallel to the bridge, not the material the poles are made of. I think we are all aware that Dominion has many billions of $ in infrastructure that it must maintain and periodically replace and/or upgrade. They amortize these costs across a 17 million person and xx million business rate base and receive a guaranteed return on investment. They can and should do better!

This line is not the only line feeding electricity to the NN its a backup. By Dominion's own admission the line was turned off the entire time the workers were painting the bridge for over a year.

I sail under the bridge regularly and am in awe of its beauty. The view is what attracts and keeps visitors coming back. There is an alternative - underwater - that should be used.

Please do not allow these monstrosities when there are other better options. I am confident that Dominion Power has engineers in their employ who can come up with alternatives which are more environmentally responsible and aesthetically pleasing.

I am appalled at the cavalier attitude of Dominion Power. They have quietly checked all the boxes to get regulatory approval, but have made no attempt to work openly with the public.

According to DP this is an example of business as usual; nothing to look at here, keep moving. DP should be working on alternatives to showcase their technology and commitment to preserving the character of their/our rivers and the Chesapeake Bay.
