I disagree completely with trying to eradicate our history. We should learn from history not eradicate it. That is the action of dictators and despots not the the actions of a democratic society.

If we let this stupidness prevail we will become a faceless entity. Every country needs to preserve their history good or bad

Sunderland is our city and our history is very important to us. I hope the council does not give in to mob rule. If they do,what next I wonder.

History is a record of what happened and pulling down statues cannot change that. They help us remember both the good and the bad.

Don't look back, we ain't going that way ... Where were locals when the Town Hall, et al, were removed? Oh, it was villains on the Council. Just sayin'. Simply, IMHO, mount the contentious Monuments in Sunderland Museum where the environment is ideal for researching the individuals' history. Everyone must understand, that black folk are obliged to walk passed and beneath those esteemed people who were associated with slavery, while they metaphorically look down on them; suggesting they are inferior. Should not be still happening fun the 21st. Century. #BLM #Ican'tbreathe

History is exactly that. Let's leave the past behind and work on getting the future right. The statues are a reminder of what some of these people did wrong and we need something to remind us our future generation of that.

Leave our history alone and our statues, the more you do this the more they will want, till we are left with no history then what will they want next, because believe me it won't end there.
