If people want to live in the past let them. Our monuments are our history and Sunderland Council have wiped enough of our history out. Leave our monuments alone.

This shouldn't even be up for debate. It's a sad day in Sunderland when we have to ask that the monuments erected to honor those who fought against the fascists be protected by modern day fascists.

My maiden name was Havelock and my dad used to take me to Mowbray park to see the statue of General Henry Havelock these were happy memories for me and I would hate it if thi statue in particular was removed.

We learn from history and need to face up to it whether good or bad. It cannot be re-written.

Our statues should remain where they are, this is our history good or bad, you can't change that, if you do this Sunderland Council should be ashamed of themselves

Lets keep our symbols of history, whether good or bad. It serves as a reminder, whether to continue the good or avoid making similar mistakes
