Tell California Gov. Brown not to kill thousands of innocent shelter animals

7,525 Signatures Goal: 10,000

Governor Jerry Brown, I understand that you are planning to repeal key provisions of the Hayden Law that protects shelter animals in order to save the state money. This is wrong.

The Hayden Law protects the hundreds of thousands of dogs, cats and other animals that enter California animal shelters every year by requiring that they be kept alive and available for reclamation or adoption for at least 4-6 days before being killed, and by extending the hours of operation of shelters to allow working families interested in adopting to visit during evenings and weekends.

Thousands of innocent animals should not be killed to alleviate California's budget woes. There are better and more humane solutions to our state's fiscal problems.

*PLEASE NOTE *: After signing this petition, Dog Park Media, the petition's author, will add you to an email list with updates on our campaign to prevent repeal of the law and to advise you on actions you can take to help protect shelter animals. You can unsubscribe to the email list with one click if you prefer not to be notified of future developments.

Hillary Clinton, the most unlikable, dishonest, phony, incompetent, Democratic 2016 presidential candidate in U.S. political history, lost because she did not connect with the American people, her untrustworthy regarding her thousand deleted emails, her abortion fanaticism, calling Americans deplorable, selling herself with I am a woman, I am the wife of Bill Clinton, I defended my husband’s infidelities, I support “open borders” and I deserve to win so, “Why aren’t I 50 points ahead?" in the polls, was not enough to win the presidential election. The liberal biased mainstream media was on her side, had hundreds of celebrity endorsements, had an army of wealthy donors, spend more money than any presidential candidate in history, and yet she lost. Can you believe that? Hillary Clinton lost the easiest most winnable election in modern American political history. And it's her own fault, no one to blame but her. What a waste of time and money ($1.2 billion), hope you wealthy donors, Democratic supporters, and uninformed Clinton voters are happy, as you voted for a LOSER.

We were under the impression Gov. Jerry Brown was one of the good guys but apparently only when it comes to things he has an interest in.

You want to reduce the wait days to death to three...rather than six?.....there shouldn't be wait days at all. None of these animals should be put to death just because they aren't lucky enough to have homes like yours does.
Imagine Gov. that you dog got out just by accident. He's probably microchipped but what if there was a mix up at the shelter and no one bother to check for it. You were searching everywhere...and then excited that you finally found the shelter he was brought to..rush over..only to find out that..guess what?..they put him to death the day before..because YOU decided to fix the budget by "saving tens of millions of dollars"...just by killing off some animals you don't know personally.
You should be ashamed of what you propose. You say they aren't really adopted in that extra three days anyway...well then get off your butt and change that..be progressive. Make California become the first state that sees to the needs of ALL it's inhabitants..including the four legged. Instead of dragging them back into the dark ages sign bills that give these animals rights to better lives.
You should follow the lead of Abraham Lincoln who said "I am in favor of animal rights as well as human rights. That is the way of a whole human being."

Please give these pets a chance to live and either find their owners or a forever home.
