Protect Rural Farnham

A western bypass proposal would blight a substantial part of the town, and lead to massive potential development infilling to a new boundary for the green belt. It would be be a massive project as big as the existing bypass it can only be sustained and justified by major development. Politics is perfectly capable of overriding logic to make it happen. It needs to be challenged at every level.

Please re assess this decision-is it really necessary for this second bypass? Surely more problems will ensue?

The environmental impact far outweighs any benefits.

We should be preserving ancient woodland and established trees not cutting them down for more environmental damage from traffic!

The environmental damage this project will cause is too higher price to pay for little benefit

There is already a bypass, no need to have such environmental destruction for another. Save our countryside

In line with the county’s climate change promises, please don’t put cars first. Please prioritise wildlife and farming, for the sake of our environment.

Too much destruction for vehicles, your destroying ourr enviroment!

Half the world’s GDP is dependent on nature says the World Economic Forum. The world must rewild and restore an area the size of China to meet current commitments on nature and the climate, says the UN. Today's convenience - Tomorrow's suffering !

For marked improvement to Farnham town centre traffic jams. The biggest difference would come from an underpass for rail crossing as this is what backs up the bypass, then town centre all day.

Shame on you for even considering bulldozing this area. Building yet more roads is not the way forward, bigger isn't better. Save our green land for future generations.

A Western Bypass would destroy invaluable countryside and productive farmland. The only remaining hares in Surrey are on this land and their habitat would be destroyed. If we are ever to meet our carbon reduction targets the emphasis should be on reducing vehicles on the roads, whether or not they are electric or fossil fuel driven. Building new roads is not the answer and, with more people working at home, will probably be unnecessary. Covid has shown how important green spaces are to people, they are vital for health and well being, but also for flood reduction, absorption of CO2, providing shade and habitats for our fast declining wild life.

Please let's make the existing bypass work better. Don't build a new one.

More roads = more cars. We all know this already. We cannot keep destroying our environment like this

This shouldn’t be allowed to happen is ancient woodland it’s a disgrace

Please improve the already existant one, protect the bio diversity, we need it more than ever.

How much more productive land is going to be lost?

I can't see anyone bothering to use this road when travelling from the M3 to Guildford, by the time you've driven up beacon hill to where the road joins you are unlikely to go back down the new road to farnham only to have to tackle the traffic lights near the station and then the Sheppard and flock roundabout. You are planning purely based on the only available space and not based on sensible route or taking the environment into account.

Please reconsider these plans and protect the wildlife and trees you plan to destroy, thank you.
