Protect Rural Farnham
We support the Campaign to Protect Rural Farnham and urge the Farnham Infrastructure Board not to proceed with the proposal for a Western Farnham Bypass. The traffic consultants indicated in the OIP that 'there was currently insufficient evidence to understand the potential benefits' and in our opinion, regardless of route, the huge environmental impact far outweighs the benefits.
The proposal directly contradicts the Surrey County Council Climate Change Strategy, particularly the need to promote an integrated public and active transport system not encouraging further car use, as well as increasing accessibility to green spaces and woodland cover in appropriate locations, rather than destroying it.
This bio-diverse rural area, including ancient woodland, is used regularly by walkers and needs to be protected.
We already have a Farnham Bypass and we need to make that work, not build another one.
