Although the city of Quitman has lowered the speed limit on the roads surrounding the elementary, no one has taken notice nor obeys the law knowing the limit. Police officers cannot possibly patrol these streets to enforce the law which leaves out children at risk. No we don't encout our children to play in the streets but they are children and don't have the protective instincts of parents. This isn't just about the children. We have a lot of elderly people on these streets who walk and exercise. They are in danger of becoming a victim from the people who use our road as a cut through and see how fast they can get from one stop sign to another.
