The undersigned property owners and residents of the Pozo area oppose the applications of Pozo Management Group, LLC., Levi Beanway, and others for a major Industrial Cannabis project located at 880 Parkhill Rd., Santa Margarita, Ca.

Locals looked the other way when those property owners did small, illegal marijuana grows, but that is not a basis for turning the site into a major industrial cannabis growth and processing facility.

The location is located in a high fire danger area, is far from law enforcement response, short of water without adversely impacting others, and is largely incompatible with the character of the immediate neighborhood and contrary to its orderly development. The proposal would be detrimental to the health, safety, and welfare of the persons residing and visiting the neighborhood for existing uses and will be detrimental and injurious to property values in the vicinity. This project is in direct conflict with historical agriculture use, and will have devastating effects on the neighboring farms and ranches. This location is simply the wrong place for an industrial cannabis operation.

This business is a bad fit for the area! My family has resided in the area since the 1800’s. Families have made livings on livestock and dry land farming. This type of business will tax an already insufficient water supply in the area as well as cause issues with traffic, crime, smell and compatibility with existing businesses.

I am definitely against the proposed cannabis application as it is not aligned with the Pozo life style, Pozo agriculture and will use too much water from a reservoir already declined below sustainability values.

I strongly object to locating a Cannibus operation on Parkhill Road in Pozo. The negative aspects of cannabis growing and processing marijuana on neighbors are well documented. Neighbors of Industrial Marijuana facilities have noted: Constant strong, sickly smell of cannabis; Day and Night noise from heating, cooling equipment; constant around the clock bright lighting; Increased traffic and large scale equipment going in and out all of the time; Huge increases in use of water and electricity. These are not consistent with the land use in this beautiful, quiet, corner of the central coast.

This proposed project is not compatible with the the neighboring area and will negatively impact the residents, the Santa Margarita community and the environment.

These projects are NOT COMPATIBLE with the Pozo area and they create an ecological disaster for the residents and the county In general. I am against this project and all cannabis projects being forced on us by the climate of greed and corruption that has plagued the county PC and BOS for the last few years. These projects cannot be allowed to be forced into our lives by ignorant, greedy and corrupt bureaucrats . Save Pozo and make a stand.

It's time our property taxes - and our voice - was valued. These grows are incompatible with the existing character/use of the area. The nuisance of cannabis (Odor/Crime/de-valuing of ex. Property/etc.) warrants all residential to be considered sensitive areas as the grows negatively impact the owners of the properties that have been well established long before.

I am a Santa Margarita resident and strongly appose locating a Cannabis operation on Parkhill Road in Pozo. Pozo is our neighboring community and what happens there directly affects our town. We already have issues in our small town with crime and traffic. I believe this project would increase crime and there are a lot of young families that have settled in Margarita that we want to protect. The slow response time for law enforcement is already an issue and this project is further increasing the activity that will take resources away from us all (all you have to do is read our community FB page. There are all sorts of posts about recent crime that you would never expect in our sleepy town). Furthermore, our kids cross highway 58 on their walks/rides to Santa Margarita elementary and we do not want to increase traffic through town. Realize on highway 58 through town where we cross, there is no stop light or stop sign. Only a cross walk with flashing lights. Most of the time, drivers, including trucks, passing through do not stop for people to cross and we have seen several close calls. I have also enjoyed a few weekends at the Oak Creek Lodge. The quiet rural setting is what makes that place so special. If a Cannabis operation is put next door, I would likely not return nor recommend it. I'm sure a lot of future customers would agree and this will unfairly affect the future financial success of that property. There are other industrial locations where this kind of business is better suited.

Please find a way to cluster cannabis grows in an industrial zone away from residences, vineyards and other businesses that are part of what makes our county a destination for tourists. No one will come for wine tasting or to stay at our lovely retreats and B&Bs if the area stinks and there is a lot of industrial traffic.
