The North Strabane Township Board of Supervisors is currently reviewing a proposal of 41 homes to be developed by Laurel Communities on the North Strabane Township side of Peters Lake, off of N. Spring Valley Rd. There are many issues with this proposed development, including traffic, safety of park users and residents near the lake, runoff, and nature and wildlife preservation. To protect and preserve the lake, the area immediately around the lake must remain lightly populated.

We are getting so near to that one thousand mark and I really need everyone to keep this momentum moving because those supervisors are definitely going to be looking at how many names we have listed here. Think about who else might care about the lake and grab their phone if you have to because we need to hit this goal before the next board meeting happens.

I spent all morning reading through the comments and honestly it is so overwhelming to see how many people actually walk these woods and care about the runoff issues. My inbox is full of messages about the traffic on Spring Valley Road while I am trying to organize these files for the board meeting because someone needs to show them that this is not just about a few houses but about the whole ecosystem of the lake.

I see the numbers creeping up toward a hundred and it makes me think about how quickly we could actually get there if everyone just sent this to a few neighbors who care about the lake. Think about how much more seriously the supervisors will treat us if we hit that mark today because honestly the traffic plans alone are a total nightmare for anyone who actually lives near North Spring Valley.

We all know it's about greed and nothing else. Money is God in this country. Babies coming up aren't going to know what a damn tree is. Everything in nature serves a purpose. Trees clean the air, prevent climate change, provide oxygen, cool the air, conserve energy, save water, prevent water pollution and soil erosion, protect from ultra violet rays, reduce noise, beautify space, help with drought (from The Tree People). Imagine a world without trees because it's happening. Where is anyone to go to enjoy nature close to home. That is dissappearing too fast.
I can't imagine what a development like that will do to this park. The disruption to Wildlife, the pollution of the water and trails and just the peace and quiet alone will make this park so much worse. I I love coming to Peter's Lake Park and hope I can continue to do so.
PLEASE STOP THIS. My kids love looking for turtles at the lake. Once you pave over everything it never comes back. Why do we need more houses here anyway??
The traffic on Spring Valley is already a nightmare during school hours. Adding 40 more houses is just gonna make it impossible to get out of my driveway. Leave the woods alone!

We must start advocating for the township to buy this land, secure it away from over-incentivized developers and protect for years to come. We no longer have our townships creating parks and actually doing good things for the community. Instead they enable home developers to build shoddy housing on every acre to increase tax revenue. This is not a sustainable way of being.
