Protect Texas Monuments within the Lone Star State
Left wing groups have said they want to remove the Sam Houston Monument located in Hermann Park, Houston, Texas, along with other Texas Monuments and a major part of Texas History. It is up to us (Texans) to see that the elected officials, who we put in power, pass HB1359 in the July 2017 Special Session so that our Texas History is protected. If you feel as strongly about this issue as we do we ask that you sign our petition so we can hand this petition as well as our hard copy petition to Texas Governor Greg Abbott and our Texas Legislators.
I know the purpose of this petition is to place HB1359 in front of Texas Legislators to pass in the 2017 Special Session. The State of Texas should protect our monuments and Texas History throughout the Lone Star State. I understand by signing this petition that HB1359 is not a Republican issue nor a Democrat issue, it's a Texas issue! Texas elected officials should add HB1359 to the Special Session and pass HB1359. We urge any and all Texas elected representatives to vote yes on HB1359.

Removing historical monuments and markers does not change history and does nothing to help us understand why history happened. It's just a very expensive " feel good" exercise, an outward show of nothingness rather than real effort in improving the community.
As a Native Texan I'm appalled that non Texans are telling us that they don't want a Sam Houston statue in a state that they don't live in. I have a fee words for them "GO BACK HOME AND DON'T MESS WITH TEXAS"
I wrote Governor Abbott and Lt. Governor Patrick 2 weeks ago about this. We simply cannot become like Louisiana and North Carolina! Maybe they don't care about their history, but we as Texans do! These antifa bullies cannot be allowed to get away with destroying our history!
It's time for our electic offidials to stand up and protect our Texas history and her monuments. I would ask you to keep in mind that monuments on city or county property are not on provitly owned land, these lands are owned by the people of Texas.
I am a native Texan and proud of it! I do not want any of our historical statues removed! Texans and others fought hard to make this great state, they do not deserve to be disrespected by destroying statues, thus, diminishing our history!

Hope you remember racist Joe Biden’s famous quote "If you have a problem figuring out whether you're for me or Trump, then you ain't black," translation, If You Don’t Vote for Me, ‘You Ain’t Black’, that said, All Black Americans should wake up and challenge the ill-educated anti-American BLM to explain HOW looting and rioting, arson attacks on private businesses , rampant violence and lawlessness protesting, stomping and burning the U.S.A. flag, vandalizing and toppling Civil War statues and monuments, there by Erasing the History of the pro-slavery, pro-lynching, spread hating, and currently true racist the Democratic Party which was Proudly known Historically as The Slaveholding Confederate States of America, stop blacks from murdering each other in record numbers every weekend in Democrat-run cities and states ONLY? Why does BLM believe black lives ONLY matter when they are harmed or killed by a white person, especially a white cop and not by black hoodlum? (Think) Where are the multitude of protesters, mourners, and televised funeral services from BLM for the deaths of Black men, women, children, and cops killed by black thugs across America's major cities? The truth is BLM does not care about blacks as more Black Americans are killed by blacks then by cops. Well, the fact is, All Lives Matter (ALM, ALM, ALM) and don’t you EVER forget it. It is sad, insulting, and degrading that Black Americans today after all this years have forgotten who the real racists have been and continue to be, namely the Democrats.

It is ludicrous to remove Houston's statue. To be more blunt - there would be no Texas without his contributions in the Texas war for independence. It is a disgrace that this proposal was even considered.
