The existing paving plant in a densely populated residential area of Alexandria near an elementary school is incompatible with the health and safety of West End Alexandria residents. The City must honor its agreement to close VP by the beginning of next year.

Virginia Paving was supposed to close but got an extension to 2027. Now they're trying to extend another five years, which is five more years of noxious fumes, noise, and heavy truck traffic. Enough is enough. The city needs to stick to the original agreement and end this.

I was anticipating the closure no later than 2027. It’s awful to hear we have to endure the pollution on our doorstep for the foreseeable future. This can’t be allowed to be extended.

The deal was made between the City and VA Paving to vacate by 1/1/27, and it needs to be honored and enforced. Nearly all industrial uses have been removed from our City,and this one, more polluting than others, needs to go. It no longer fits our neighborhood and community.

I totally agree with Sash Impastato. The Cameron Station Civic Association has dealt with Virginia Paving far too long. It’s time for the plant to move!

VP generates toxic substances, and it is located within walking distance of an elementary school. Children are among the most vulnerable. The city has the authority to enforce the Operating Permit deadline. The city needs to put the public's health interest above VP's private interest. Greater transparency in this decision-making is needed.

Virginia Paving needs to honor the terms of its SUP and vacate by 1/1/27. It is high time that, after 22 years of Cameron Station and other local communities having to deal with environmental and SUP violations, numerous Council hearings on its SUP, and a lack of full information on its relocation efforts as well as the the supposed "minor" environmental and SUP violations, it leaves the area and allows for mixed use redevelopment as envisioned under the Eisenhower West SAP.
