I think it is crucial for our Island's future that our water is not commodified. It should not be available to be bottled and sold. It should not be available for deep water wells.

I believe very strongly in a principled and fair approach to using the water that is available for everyone (including the natural flora and fauna). It seems, we have in front of us the perfect opportunity to develop a comprehensive and meaningful approach to ensure everyone (and everything) has enough. I truly hope our leaders understand this; are motivated to institute change for the right reasons and are prepared to take the time necessary to do this correctly.

Please, no more water bottling plants on PEI. This is wrong on so many levels. We need to get away from polluting plastic bottles and draining our ground waters.

The stakes are too high for our community and environment to pay the price. Our water is too precious to allow someone control. Who can get away with no environmental impact assessment, that's ridiculous !

Over population, pollution, climate change, etc....are depleting resources rapidly. We need to care for our island and our islanders. Something is only truly missed after its already gone.

I'd like to see this go even further, outright ban on plastic bottles on the Island as well. Only for emergency use (boil water orders, disaster relief etc.)

PEI, my native home, gets a lot of things right. One of the first places in Canada to roll out a widespread compost program, the moratorium on irrigation wells for crops, and the protected lands for endangered species such as the piping plover are just some of the ecological initiatives that are a credit to the Island.
Allowing a water bottling plant to suck up 400,000 L of water a week would be a huge step backwards for the island. Please do the right thing and do not allow this development to happen.
