Something desperately needs to be done about the drop off/ pick up for Seitz elementary. It's not safe for students or parents.

Something need to be done is ridiculous how some parents speeding throu arush and also I have some little kids pull off their mom's hands and Crossing over to their parents car without looking it is very dangerous and unsafe also for parents that have more than one child and has to keep their eyes on all of them at a time Kids R Kids and there will always be one kid or two that will run off their parents hands is very dangerous especially with this cold weather that parents have to be getting off their vehicles with infant babies and walking them just a few feet away from the cross pathway

I agree that a change needs to be made, but only to the morning drop off when parents tend to be more rushed for work, etc. Allowing parents to drop their kids off at a designated curb spot would most likely result in a smoother traffic flow and lessening the risk of safety incidents. Parents who choose to sit in their cars with their child until closer to the bell ringing, can still do so, and then enter the traffic line when they're reading to drop off or exit the parking lot. I disagree with the afternoon pick up plan, as anyone can see that it's too complex and potentially slow going.

As i do agree that we need a change i do not think this exact form of pick up would be considered a timely manner. I do think that there is a way to better do pick up and drop off though.

I'm tired of having to leave an hour early just to get a decent parking spot. This principle needs to come up with a new system. Thankgosh for this petition!

I love the idea of a kiss and ride. We have used it at other schools and it worked great. Sietz is already set up to accommodate this program too.

Mrs. Testa is right tho, it's the parents that have to work together. Yes, the pick up and drop off sucks but it's bc of the parents. I see so many speeding thru there, just pulling out, others not letting people out, parents just letting their kids run thru the cars or the kids not looking as well as the adults.. Some of it is common courtesy and that's lacking because so many people are in a rush or simply don't want to wait.. There a system in place but people don't want to follow it. I saw a person going the opposite way to get one of the top parking spots bc they didn't want to go with the flow of traffic and just be patient to get around and get the spot like you are asked too,
It's not all on Mrs. Testa, if USD 475 won't give the school more money to expand, than her hands are kind of tied. Plus us as parents, need to work a little more together back there. I feel like this petition is just pointing a finger at Jodi when it's not all on her, she can only do so much. You can't block or back up Rifle Range Rd, it's too much of a busy street. At the end of the day, it's the parents that make it chaotic, not the principal or staff, the parents who are out there not following the flow, not having common courtesy for the fellow parent, who rush around and cut people off or speed thru.. Maybe us as parents, could do better and play a part of making it more smoothly.
So, I will not be signing this because until the parents can work together, nothing will help.

I think they should put the staff in the back parking lot and let us use the bigger parking lot. Or they should made the back parking lot bigger. I should not be getting my child around 400 almost every day due to the high traffic or because I'm waiting past 300 for my child to be dismissed. Also half the time I do get to drop my kid off or pick her up at the correct time I see the staff goofing off on phones or talking with other parents. I thought they were suppose to be there making sure traffic is moving smoothly. If parents need to talk to the teachers they can set up a meeting. The teachers should be repremanded for being on their phones instead of doing their job. I doubt anything will be done as this has been an issue for years.

Makes way more sense. Especially in the winter. I hate having to drag all the kids out just to pick up my oldest when my husband can't get her or when her friends mother doesn't bring her home.

I do not normally pick up my son from school he usually walks or rides a bike but when it rains or is really cold out I drop/pick him up , and I have 2 smaller children and this would be a great help to not have to take them out in the pouring rain to stand at a door and wait for 10 mins for my son to be dismissed ! And also trying to get safely to my car or get out of my parking space is always a fight !

This is a great start. A suggestion I have that worked well at a school in GA, and is a tad different, is that once the kids are in the gym they sit by grade and younger children went to sit with the older siblings if any.
Each family had a color and number and our sign was laminated cardstock with number on it as well as our last name. The number was how many children you had that attended the school and went home together. So I had blue 1 Gonzalez.
There will be teachers in the gym as well as 2-4 outside at the line. Kids stayed in the gym.
The teachers outide would walk the line and radio into the gym with a walkie talkie. The teachers in there would then call out the laminated color/number/name that coordinated with your family. The children would need to know, obviously.
Then those children would walk along the walkway to the drop off / pick up
The teachers outside would then walk them to their car.
I hope I have explained it well to understand
But it kept the kids inside the whole time and the kids were with an adult/teacher always.
Drop off, you just followed the line and couldn't drop off until you were at a certain point to keep children safe. Children would go to where they needed to wait or breakfast if they needed/wanted.

Would like to see this implemented using the front parking lot. Move the staff parking to the back (where it normally is for most schools) and use the circle the way it should be used.
