It is no wonder so many recent NOSB members stepped down. Big Ag $ has obviously been once again the major influence of policy or lack thereof. It's going to take a lot more than 1,000 signatures to right the wrong that is happening at the USDA with respect to organic standards. I am not certain that the ROP is capable of spearheading the agenda it will take to make this happen. Perhaps with democratic leadership starting in 2020 we can begin discussions about the legislative mandates that are necessary to protect the integrity of the USDA organic label. Short of that, we can probably just chalk this up as another win for Big Ag. As an organic farmer, that reality is truly disheartening.

I support Real Organic 100%.
The USDA, FDA are worthless.
I try to buy only Organic, I read labels & stay educated on the "clean & unclean" foods. I want to support the real Organic farmer as much as I can. Thank you for all you do!

My farm was a certified organic farm for more than 10 years. We allowed our certification to lapse in 2016 partly because of the great relative effort it takes for a small farm to certify itself, but mostly because the actual certification is almost meaningless when the CAFOs and hydroponics are allowed to be certified. Our own customer base visits our farm and sees what we do. They know our care for the land, the wildlife, and our livestock. And about half of them know about the corrupted activities of the NOP. They choose us. They choose transparency. They choose truth.

The USDA Organic seal lost its meaning when hydroponics and CAFOs were allowed to pass themselves off as organic. I no longer trust the label. The USDA appears to have sold out to conventional industrial agricultural interests.

I am certified organic under the NOP program, and hate to have my products in the same category as products which have very recently been exposed to pesticides.
