Protect NYC Retiree Health Coverage Benefits From Cutbacks

Mayor DiBlasio is turning Medicare on its head. Traditional Medicare is the default and promised health program. In the normal world you have an OPTION to switch out of traditional Medicare provided by the Federal government and ELECT to switch to an Advantage program which is run by private insurance companies. These insurance companies can set their own rules to be eligible for medical care. It can have a good program in one year and change the rules the next year. While virtually all US doctors participate in traditional Medicare that is NOT the case for the hundreds of Advantage Care programs. So, you may not be able to keep your doctor. Or, you may keep your doctor in one year and the next year your doctor may opt-out of your Advantage Care program. Bottom line, this is not what we worked for. I find it unconscionable that NYC is forcing its retirees to leave traditional Medicare in order for the retiree to get the benefits and reimbursement that he/she worked for.

For goodness sake, don't change the coverage the hard working retirees earned. Imagine the implications to elderly retirees having no one to help them navigate the through their clinical and financial needs. Stop this train from crashing before it gets out of hand

I deserve what I worked for...Medicare. At my age I have been with doctors for decades. I asked a few and they do not take Medicare Advantage.

Worked for 28 1/2 years with the promise of full health care coverage when I retired. Apparently that means nothing.

Save our Health Insurance. You do not know what doctors will agree to accept a new plan. Some of us have conditions that if not covered will cost us thousands of dollars a year. Don’t try and double talk us. We are too smart..

this mayor is a disgusting disgrace, and mulgrew is not far behind. we gave all during our careers, and expect what was promised us in retirement!

I am disappointed that you are trying to change the medical insurance of NYC retirees.

I want to keep my present health coverage. The Bloomberg administration took away a lot from us in the past. Enough is enough! We gave decades of service to the city.

We worked for many years giving the city our very best efforts. We would hope, as retirees, our efforts are recognized and appreciated. Do not compromise our health benefits in an attempt to save money-

We should be given a choice, stay with Medicare/ Ghi or transfer to the advantage plan.

Taking away Medicare will be a financial and a health disaster for retirees. Teachers worked their whole professional careers to earn this privilege. Do not take it away.

Keep our traditional coverage that we worked for and earned the right to have...
