This petition asks signers for support in Friends of the Jackson Street Pier effort to request the Sandusky City Manger and City Commission reconsider the City Manager's decision to deviate from the Jackson Street Pier Project plan by placing view obstructing "trellised seating" (seen in photo) at the north end of the pier and place the "trellised seating" along the west and east perimeter as per the approved design.

Sandusky's City Manager has decided to deviate from the approved Jackson Street Pier Plan design for regular benches at the north end of the pier changing to "trellised swing benches" negatively impacting views for residents and visitors choosing to view Sandusky Bay and its activities

During the Jackson Street Pier Project planning process, Sandusky residents and interested groups shared concerns regarding maintaining pre-existing views of Sandusky Bay and its activities for all, including residents and visitors wishing to do so from their vehicle.

Updates

April 20, 2020

The scale of this response confirms that the community expects adherence to the original pier design. I have requested a meeting with the City Manager to present these concerns and demand the relocation of the proposed seating structures.

The older population sometimes cannot gets out of their cars and blocking their view would be wrong... The swing seats could be placed on the other side

Enough with the constant changes. Everyone was fine with the original plan so why are we suddenly adding stuff that ruins the view for people just trying to sit in their cars and enjoy the water.

Why does Eric Wobser think he has the right to do as he wants, without asking the people that use the pier! The swings on the end of the pier were not in the original plans ! He is just spending more money !

I usually don’t say much only to position my opinion at the voting booth. That being said, this smacks of junior high spite on behalf on the city administration.

You’ve already took the pier away and all the parking and now want to block the parking with these swings! I think it’s a waste of money and takes away from the only views we have sitting in our cars
