as mentioned East Renfrewshire Council are attempting to build the new High school within gifted land [COMMON GOOD] This land was left to the people of Barrhead by the late James Cowan in perpetuity. It is a part of our local history and held in great esteem. The majority of local people are not against a new school build but the proposed site.
Time for a new paradigm to replace this rotton old one that is consuming The Planet and compromising the wellbeing of future generations... The Scottish visionary town planner Patrick Geddes who is credited with the phrase "Think Global, Act Local" would turn in his grave. Interesting to note that when a third party (such as geotechnical consultants, albeit employed by the council) gives its opinion its findings may be contrary to the council's plans. In the case of West Dunbartonshire Council a recent report on the suitability to build a new school on a valuable green space near a beauty spot was highly critical of the land being built on and mentioned the magic phrase 'there will be cost implications'. Council taxpayers getting value for money must always be at the forefront of any council's plans and this isn't happening in Dumbarton. See Save Posties Park on Facebook.
Good luck! We are probably going to go through the same thing in Dumbarton as the council try to steal our beautiful public park for a school to be built on. By the time we finish fighting them, the kids will be still sitting in an unsuitable location whilst the council run up ever increasing costs. When will the councils learn? We will fight them every step of the way!!

Building on the park is a horrible idea. And the council to be so underhanded to try and find a loop hole to build on the park is a gross display selfishness.
