Protect “Good Medical Practice” in Australia: safeguard the Medical Board Code of Conduct.

Doctors should not have go against their own fundamental beliefs

It is an unconscionable proposal for the sake of political correctness because it compromises our overall basic principles of medical ethics.

The Hypocratic Oath has served to protect both patients and doctors for many years. To seek such detrimental changes is unacceptable.,

I completely disagree with their proposed changes

There are so many things all Dr are going to be confronted with in the years to come...abortion on demand and euthanasia which clearly goes against all Christian belief the Dr creed from years gone by. Our medical profession have to be protected and given the right of their freedom of choice...everyone has the right to freedom of choice not just those that can shout the loudest.

We need good medical advice to make the right decisions.

It seems ludicrous to change a code of conduct so that cultural considerations are given precedence over the carefully considered decisions of a professional who has trained for many years to achieve expertise in health care. I fully support patient input and self-determination in their own care, but it must go hand-in-hand with the advice and direction of a medical practitioner who can be confident in the knowledge that their clinical judgement and own freedom of conscience will be respected to allow them to do the absolute best for their patient.

Who is the professional person to decide what treatment is appropriate for the patient? Why do they believe the patient or relatives who are not medically trained can override a medical professional's decision?

It is insane that AHPRA has such proposed changes. It is detrimental to patient care.

I disagree with the proposed changes to the code of conduct for medical practice.

This will be a nightmare if euthanasia is legalised.

This looks like a bad idea made by a politically correct committee

The Hippocratic Oath has stood as a icon of trust for the medical profession for a very long time. Changing it to help change the world with all its new fads and infatuations rather than the good and proven guidelines to me is like tinkering with the building blocks of our once civilized culture by causing chaos and out of the ashes to arise a new society. The notion of empowering patients or their families to dictate their demands to doctors is like giving the piloting command of a plane to an enthusiastic but inexperienced child.

It would be insane to allow patients to decide on medical treatments that doctors are then forced to provide. Keep the Medical Board code of conduct as it is!

I believe that doctors don’t have the right to play God, by deciding what treatment a person is either given, or not.

I fully support this petition.

We choose our Doctor because we have found him/her to be a skilled medical practitioner, and one who has high ethical values - please retain the current code to which all practitioner's subscribe.

Please fix the changes in line with this petition.
