Doctors have a hard enough job to do without loading them down with Political Correctness.

Doctors should have right not to offend their conscience concerning right medical practice

I agree with the comments of Richard Nicholls, Marion Zerk, Brian Symons & Richard Chittleborough. This affects not only end-of-life practices (euthanasia) but abortion & genital mutilation, as well as many other medical conditions & our rights to freedom of speech & even a belief system of our own. If doctors are not to be allowed to act in accordance with their beliefs, they might as well not have them. Where will it end?

This is beyond belief. One goes to a doctor to get their qualified opinion of best treatment not to tell them how they should treat you.

If it looks like a boy has boy bits and a boy body its probably a boy. Same goes for girls.

Is the doctor to be sued when he/she has submitted his/her judgment to the wishes of others and things go wrong when he doctor has obeyed the wishes of others and the patient dies, or is left physically or mentally disabled? A patient should be verbally informed of the doctor's medical opinion and the patient can follow it or not, but the doctor has to be able to give his honest opinion to the best of his knowledge. Why is this change being made??????

As a retired GP with decades of involvement in Residential Aged Care and Palliative Care I oppose the proposed changes to our Code of Conduct and I am saddened that such changes have ever been proposed

The proposal is nothing less than a totalitarian tool for control.We are losing our liberty! Please resist this Orwellian horror.

One should always be guided by the medical profession i.e. Doctors as to health issues. Cultural wishes are entering too many areas of our society - this is definitely one area where they should not. We have the freedom to change Doctors if we are not happy with their advice - in other words 'seek a second opinion'.

We need doctors to be free to have opinions and to be able to share them and promote them. They have a right to conscience, speech and belief as much as any extreme politically correct activist. Generally doctors express their opinions respectfully and carefully which hasn’t always been the case for the aforementioned group. We should encourage doctors in every way to express their thoughts and have discussions with peers as they pursue the best medical outcomes. Gagging doctors will damage health. “No-Brainer”

I always thought doctors had to act in the best interest of patients and not in accordance will unproven, right wing ideology.

You cannot seriously consider committing every doctor consciences to the absolutely unproven hypothesis that gender is fluid. To do so would be a disgrace to your oath. So sad ... so unwise.

Doctors should not be told what to think by their Association. They should have the freedom to give an honest opinion.

Whilst l have no great problem with a doctor referring when a sought after proceedure is requested by the patient (against their doctor's conscience), l am vehemently against our doctors being told what to think by their association. If a patient doesn't appreciate one doctor's opinion they will go to another. We're not totally stupid and unable to use our brain. I for one appreciate the medical profession's freedom to give an honest opinion.
