Protect “Good Medical Practice” in Australia: safeguard the Medical Board Code of Conduct.

I agree with these comments -"Medical doctors must be allowed the freedom of speech to voice their medical opinion to patients and also refuse to agree with procedures that oppose personal spiritual beliefs" Proposed changes are going beyond ridiculous.

Please leave all medical decision-making to registered doctors only. This is their profession and training not your average patient or patient's family.

Please protect Good Medical Practice in Australia. Keep the code of Conduct as it has been for years.

Doctors must have freedom of speech and not be restricted in their opinions on legal and ethical matters

this should never be passed. it is nothing short of rediculous.

Dr's should not be restricted in their advice etc asthey are recognised for being there to give advice!

Proposed changes are worrying

AHPRA needs to be careful not to step beyond its level of authority and into areas where it’s own code traps itself. Doctors are now confined by many rules including evidence based decisions. Will AHPRA abide by its own standards and listen to the evidence or listen to and enforce current popular culture?

The potential for disaster if these proposed changes are made is staggering. Legal, ethical and all sorts of issues are going to explode.

You don't get a better society by silencing dissent, but through intelligent and respectful discussion. Doctors, like the rest of us, should have their say, and also be able to stick to their principles.

For good medical practice doctors must be able to discuss with patients all pros and cons of possible medical treatment.

To be able to have your own freedom of thought and beliefs is the true determination of a strong and healthy democracy thank you

Limiting the freedom of speech of those in the medical profession is absurd. The Hippocratic oath is a separate issue to freedom of expression.

Doctors are to respect their oath. Life is sacred.

Doctors should be free to express personal opinion in any true democracy.

As an allied health member of AHPRA this is unconscionable

Whilst the wording of the changes may well be to address doctors who promote anti vaccination and other questionable and at times quasi scientific stances the capacity for it to snare those of us who wish to exercise our faith in our profession against the prevailing cultural norms is transparently obvious

The proposed changes to the 2009 Code should not be accepted. They undermine good medical practice, to the detriment of Doctors and patients alike.
