Protect “Good Medical Practice” in Australia: safeguard the Medical Board Code of Conduct.

Doctors must be independent

Unfair to enforce new code. There are doctors of different persuasions. Let those happy to do it, do it.... but unfair to force the entire profession to embrace a value in antithesis to some conscience!

This is political correctness taken to a dangerous level. I do not agree with it.

There will come a day when we all will have to give an account of the state of our heart and how we have lived our lives. Do not be afraid of the one who can kill the body and can do no more. Be afraid of the one who after killing the body can kill the souls as well. Be not afraid, we do what we can in the natural and we are to have faith in our GOD, who works in the supernatural! Staggering. Doctors have been trained to assess and treat sickness and cultivate health. They should have the liberty to do so without an ideological agenda being forced upon them. If I am uncomfortable with the service being provided by a particular medical practitioner I am free to choose another. I should not have the right, nor am I qualified to direct or constrain their decision-making.

Doctors should not have their code of practice changed to overrule their conscience in favour of cultural sensitivities which conflict with the patients health.

This is unacceptable. We should be able to go to the doctor and know and trust that No Harm will be done. It's a patients right to this. If a doctor has to go by religion, some religions are into harm. Like female genital mutilation, child marriages and so forth. You risk opening these doors wide open to these harmful practices if you allow this. This is why I am signing the petition.

The changes which have been proposed to the Medical Board of Australia's existing Code of Conduct endanger doctors and patients regarding clinical decision-making and freedom of conscience. I request that these proposed changes should not be accepted as they are inconsistent with good medical practice.

A doctor should have the freedom to always act in the best interests of a patient. This not always to do what the patient and/or family wants. The proposed changes to the Code of Conduct are not warranted. The Medical Board should have no part in the push to reengineer society and its values.

Seems another example of political correctness carried to an absurd and dangerous degree. The wording of the present code should be retained to ensure doctors advice and practise is based on their professional knowledge of how to achieve good medical outcomes.

combatting the horrible practice of mutilation of genitles in some cultures is just one of a lot of good reasons this approach is misguided. Doctors must act in the interest of the health of the patient not warped political correctness.

We already have a great medical system. Please don't break it by preventing doctors from being able to ask the hard questions and make the hard decisions about medical issues and treatment for the best possible health outcome.

We do not agree with the proposed changes.

To even suggest that a medical decision must be left solely to the 'cultural' dominance of a patient's or family's milieu - without medical information or intervention - is to pursue a dangerous precedent for the medical profession. This new Code seems to be one of censorship for Drs with dissenting views. This is a freedom of speech/freedom of religion issue as well. The new Code will put an end to Drs abilities to discuss and debate various issues from a medical perspective.

Please do not change the Medical Oath.

The medical proffession has undertaken a vow to SAVE lives not take them or destroy them and silencing doctors has nothing to do with good medicine there are hidden agenda's and again the vulnerable are not (and wont be) safe if doctors are silenced either verbally or concienciously.

I believe that the proposed changes oppose the Hippocratic oath and threaten good medical practice.It would be a step backwards for society. Please dont change the Medical Oath

Doctors should have the right to give their professional opinion

The Medical Board of Australia should stick to their role in guiding good relations and conduct in the medical wold, and leave political ideology to the politicians.
