Protect “Good Medical Practice” in Australia: safeguard the Medical Board Code of Conduct.

We must uphold the sanctity of life in all decision making and never coerce or discriminate against those, including our valued medical practitioners from acting against their informed conscience.

This proposed amendment erodes one of the key function of democracy - to promote and protect one of the most basic human rights - freedom of opinion and expression, even if they do not conform with the majority at the time, as set out by the Australian Human Rights Commission.

If a patient goes to see a doctor they have both a right and responsibility to make a choice in the professional advice given. They cannot take over the doctors role, also one of rights and responsibilities.

Australia, let us be a Nation that protects the dignity of all humans, and not introduce bullying tactics, in any form, into our medical practices. Do unto others, as you would have them do unto you, is wisdom. Discriminating against protecting one's life and conscience, is not sound judgment, and it is always the vulnerable who pay first. Let us not make decisions that will go down in history as regret. Morality with dignity must form the basis of all decisions undertaken, to ensure the safety and longevity of a great Nation. Good people cannot be bought with bribes, and must stand up for what is right, to the end. Thank you to all, whose voice is being heard.

Please allow doctors to do their job within their professional capacity, using the existing, established and understood guidelines within the Hippocratic Oath or Australian Medical Code of Conduct, to help people and save lives.

As a registered nurse I disagree with these proposed changes

Restricting doctors public expression of beliefs and principles means restricting patients rights to choose the doctor best suited to them. There are enough restrictions already and we want freedom.

I wish the Board would allow doctors to treat all patients as their condition deserves, not how the ideologues believe they should be treated. Do NO HARM. That is do what's best for the patient's health.

Doctors should have the right and responsibility to express their personal opinion when dealing with patients. I believe their rights as doctors should not be stifled.

Elements in our society are trying to deaden conscience and personal values.

Please do not force doctors to go against their firmly held hippocratic and moral views and their principles, now or in the future.

I want to continue to live in a free country

As a psychologist I recognise the importance of brining your true self to your practice. A Doctors personal beliefs should not be stifled, and they should not be punished for honestly presenting them in a respectful manner. AHPRA cannot ethically desire to control the medical practitioners in their private lives.

Doctors have a right and responsibility to express their personal opinion when dealing with a patient.

Silencing the voice of conscience will create an animalistic society.

Coercion has no place in Professionalism.

The new views on transgender changes is a new challenge for doctors . Full and unbiased discussions should take place before any radical changes are made .

Changes like this open the door to a Pandora's Box of future problems, and an ongoing degradation of life values and social standards. The principles are there for a very good reason, and should not be subject to emotional arguments or social whims. Freedom of conscience is necessarily incontrovertible.
