Dear Emory University leaders,

As a contingent of Emory alumni committed to justice in Palestine, we are writing to you today to voice our unequivocal support for B7.4. The bill B7.4 proposes to divest the $1.4 million graduate student budget from the Graduate Student Government Association (GSGA) from products that are complicit in Israeli apartheid and the ethnic cleansing of the Palestinians.

Second, there is a concerted effort to remove this bill from the incoming ballot on April 1st, preventing it from being put to a democratic vote by students. As former graduate students at Emory, we are alarmed by this attempt to interrupt the democratic process for decision-making that has been in place at Emory. We call on Emory leaders to withstand pressures to interfere with students’ democratic rights. It is up to the graduate student body to decide how to use their funds.
