Protect Female Farmworkers from Sexual Harassment and Assault: Ni Una Mas Victima En Los Campos

''Studies show that 80% of Mexican and Mexican American women farmworkers in the U.S. have experienced some form of sexual harassment at work. Rape is common enough for some to nickname their workplace the “fields of panties.” For comparison, about 38% of women in the U.S. report experiencing some kind of workplace sexual harassment.''
In the U.S., the gender violence and power imbalance against immigrant female farm workers has led to the exploitation and sexual abuse of women who work in the agricultural industry. Their undocumented status and position as an employee make them vulnerable victims to their male counterparts who hold a much higher status or power over them. Many of these victims feel shame, anger, disrespected, and oftentimes blame themselves.
Advocate and fight for the rights of farm-working women by signing this petition to enforce required training on sexual harassment and assault in agriculture. Sexual harassment and assault trainings prepare, informs, and helps women feel safe in their workspace while also providing resources for sexual abuse victims. Preventative measures, such as providing regular observations and visits of agencies that ensure that women's farmworkers' rights are being respected and instilling zero tolerance for sexual abuse in the workplace.
