If you want the Boards of Directors of the EagleVail Property Owners Association and EagleVail Metro District to effect a change in the classification of recreational fields to prevent a sale or development without EagleVail property owner approval, then sign this petition.

Areas in eastern EagleVail that are used for soccer, baseball and Par 3 golf are currently classified for multi-family housing and owned by the EagleVail Metropolitan District. Most property owners do not know that these areas could be sold for development by the EV Metro District and may include up to 500 units of "affordable" housing. These areas were purchased by the community for recreation in 1989 and they should be classified in accordance with their intent and use. While there are no currently announced plans to sale or develop these properties, Board actions can inhibit such activities in the future.

I spent the whole morning looking through the property maps again and it honestly feels like we are yelling into a void because the current zoning is just sitting there waiting to be exploited. People keep messaging me about the soccer fields and the golf course and it is clear that nobody wants these green spaces paved over but we have to keep the pressure on the board before they get any funny ideas about those housing units.

I was just looking at the map of those fields again and thinking about how quickly this momentum shifted because honestly I was terrified nobody would care about the classification issue but now it feels like people are actually waking up to the reality of what the Metro District could do with our space. It is wild to see people talking about this in the grocery store and I keep re-reading the comments just to make sure I am not dreaming so thank you for sticking with this while we navigate the board meetings and all that paperwork.

I'm a 27 year EV owner and I'm extremely interested in preserving open space. I'm not in favor of selling land for building condos.

The tax payers bought it to preserve it at green space and recreation. I see no reason to change the use at this time. What a great amenity to add to our others.

I strongly support this petition. If the Metro Board actually has no current plans to sale and develop the property there should be no reason for them to not agree to this change.

Just want a space to comment that I do not think this is a constructive way to address a land use. All eight candidates for the Metro Board cited the need for community master planning which includes both land use and long term finances. Done well it will also include considerable community involvement. It is likely the Metro District attorney will nix any proposal to prematurely restrict land use as not in the best interest of the Metro District. In my opinion this petition is just one political tool being used to try to insure the election of EagleVail United candidates Luppens, Sills, and Warner to the Metro District board. I wager that after the election there will be no more "progress" on this proposition.

Great to see the board led by Mr. Daniels address one of the most important issues to demonstrate EagleVail is serious about preserving the green space all of us enjoy now for future generations. As the front range doubles in size in the next 15 years, the excellent decision will only become more apparent and homeowners will be grateful.

Keep the green, green. Any development must meet voter approval and should be focused on Hwy 6 updates and upgrades. Keep what is green, green! Full time resident.
