As an alumni, I will be watching how this unfolds when considering future donations.

dont do this. look at Evergreen state college, its an amazing place and its completely surrounded by trees. Ive visited there and both my friends and I would rather go there than UVic alone because of that fact.

We need to preserve natural spaces and tree canopy in the CRD! How about developing in the very large grassy dog area instead and keep all of the wooded areas on campus standing!

As a UVic alumni, the natural space of the campus was one of the most important parts of my experience. Protect them.

This is where I observed owls, woodpeckers, wrens and other native bird species for my vertebrates of bc course at uvic. Don't destroy this precious habitat. It is what makes uvic so special for students and community members and wildlife alike.

I believe it is unacceptable to keep destroying and occupying the natural habitats and ecosystems to the extent that we, as humans do. For generations the need for expansion to accommodate more population and therefore more services and food production has yielded terrible results. We are losing the rainforests and other large areas of amazing ecosystems. This one forest at uvic may not seem like a big deal, but if we build over it, then it is gone, forever. And potentially many of the animals that reside in it. I'm sure there is a valid alternative to build elsewhere on campus or to build somewhere nearby off campus. The university of Victoria is known for being greener than many inner city universities which consist of many buildings, roads and a lot more cement. If we cut down the forest than we are losing this special natural touch of the area around uvic. Uvic needs greenery and this is a large portion of it. I hope this message reaches someone who has a say in the development plans, and can see that students at the university do care and enjoy using that area.

Cunningham woods, as the last forested area inside ring road, should be protected for education, engagement, ecological study, and for contributing substantially to the homey feel that helped me choose UVic before my first year. That area of campus has much more value and potential remaining as it is and being used by various departments and students than it does as a new building or parking lot.

This part of campus is still quite wild and beautiful. It is a great place to relax and feel like your in the middle of the forest. Please leave it how it is.

Development can happen without complete removal of natural spaces. Please adjust any expansion to include natural spaces in the planning process. Is that not what an environmentally conscious university should be demonstrating?

I oppose the listing of Cunningham woods as a location for potential developments. These woods are an important home to many things, and also living laboratory for many students.

Having natural spaces on campus has huge benefits to student and staff health, not to mention all the other living creatures.

I strongly oppose this proposed development of Cunningham woods. Such an undertaking, a move on the last forest within the Ring Road, would undermine the image of UVic as a responsible, environmentally conscious campus community. We need to protect this place.
