The sale is officially off the table and Silver Creek is staying open. My heart is full knowing these kids will keep their home for therapy and play. We will stay watchful to ensure our community hub remains secure for years to come.

Petition to save Silver Creek School and playground which provides essential children's mental health services and daycare space for children with disabilities by designating the building a vital community hub and stopping the sale of this vital fabric of our neighbourhood.

TO THE LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY OF ONTARIO:

Whereas: Silver Creek School is the home to the Silver Creek Pre-School and the Etobicoke Community Children's Centre, two essential childcare programs for the families of our community; and

Whereas: The Silver Creek Pre-School has been serving children with physical and developmental challenges since 1975, currently serving more than 60 children annually; and

Whereas: Silver Creek provides a positive pre-school setting with therapeutic (physiotherapy, occupational, speech & language, and music therapy) services delivered within a caring and creative early education classroom, helping children with and without physical and developmental challenges to achieve success as defined by each child and family; and

Whereas: The Etobicoke Children's Centre is dedicated to providing services to children, youth and their families who experience challenges related to mental health and autism; and

Whereas: The Etobicoke Children's Centre has been in our neighbourhood since 1999 and serves approximately 1200 children and their families annually; and

Whereas: It is crucial that the province act immediately to ensure that these vital childcare resources and its surrounding green space are not lost.

Therefore: We the undersigned, petition the Legislative Assembly to stop the sale of Silver Creek School.

Seeing 500 signatures on this page brought me back to the first time I walked into Silver Creek and realized how much my own child relies on this space. It is incredibly moving to see so many people recognize that these classrooms are not just brick and mortar but a lifeline for our families.

My own child found a safe place to grow at Silver Creek and I refuse to watch them sell off that hope to the highest bidder. Please send this link to your neighbors right now so we hit the five hundred mark before the officials decide our kids do not matter.

I volunteer at this school and witness first hand the extraordinary work that is done here by the teachers and staff. The difference made in the lives of the children and the lives of their families is monumental. To close this school, that is largely self funded, would be a huge mistake!

The thought of losing this school makes me sick! This school means everything to a very dear family of ours. I personally invested time, money and resources on helping raise money for the playground only to have it sold for profits? This disgusts me.

Children's mental health programming is already under extraordinary pressure and stress. It is irresponsible to close or disrupt existing services that are working at a time when growth and capacity-building should be the focus.

My son benefited greatly from Etobicoke childr an center. Having a small quiet school work with one on one therapy changed his whole future around. I'd hate to think other children will loose the benefits of this school.

Silver Creek is the reason I am pursing a career in Occupational Therapy. The love and compassion each of the staff showed to me and the children and their families was endless. A truly self-described place full of generosity.
