This program is vital and essential to our community to our family to our children without this program. Our children will lose the consistent and the commitment that we preach about from day-to-day and how to be better students within society is crucial that program like this stays in our schools

Whenever we find something that works for our children, it is snatched away so I am asking that you allow our children to continue to thrive with all of the arts programming at this amazing School. Thank you

Dont defund our schools. We need to invest in our students and protect them from short-sighted cuts to vital educational opportunities. So many now claim they want America to be great but our Nation cannot get there without encouraging and inspiring its young people to lead us forward.

The music program is schools not only exposes children to a different genre of music such as classical it also improves their academic ability in advancing math skills, improves their reading and language ability. It also can serve as a form of self expression. Students have an opportunity of being exposed to a career field and a love of the arts from participating in music programs from a young age.

The Arts educate and inspire, art is expression and communication. Arts education creates well rounded individuals who will contribute to society with multifaceted perspectives. Arts education IS education.

In short, it would be incredibly irresponsible to do anything less than support and amplify the arts, ALL arts programs.

Cutting the arts from AOE, a school whose very identity and curriculum are built around arts education, fundamentally changes the program families and students chose to be part of. The district risks losing families to other institutions who value a holistic approach to learning, and losing families negatively impacts the very issue the district aims to correct with this short-sighted “solution.” The arts are not an “extra.” They are central to how this school teaches critical thinking, collaboration, and engagement with learning. In addition, there is a strong body of research that shows that high-quality arts programming is associated with improved academic outcomes and supports the development of well-rounded students who are then eligible for more opportunities and participate civically more often and consistently. AOE’s own student achievement data demonstrates this. If anything, the district should be asking itself how to further expand AOE’s programming to other schools, rather than limit it.
