Protect and Preserve Halstead Mill Smoke Stack.

I support the preservation of all of our historic sites and places.

Keep and preserve it I grew up in Waialua and seen that smoke stack all my life

Please take the necessary steps to preserve the Halstead Mill Smoke Stack in Waialua. There are many of us from Waialua that are requesting that this site be placed on the Hawaii Registry of Historic Places in order to insure it's protection for the future generations to have our own tangible history remain without fear of it not being protected from further development. Being able to see, take our own photos of and touch important items from our past will speak volumes, rather than just reading about this site in a book and seeing a few photos. This history is what Waialua is all about, the Mill and the Plantation that made our town. It IS the tie that binds Waialua. So PLEASE, help us protect this very important site by placing this on the list of Hawaii Registry of Historic Places. I can still smell the sweetness of when the Mill was operational, never dreaming of it's closure one day. This Smoke Stake is our precious piece of history that our tourists can also visit, to assist them in learning of Waialua's past. Mahalo for your kokua.
