We are asking for community support for the proposed second story addition to our heritage listed house on 1 Thompson Road.

We love our old limestone and brick cottage with all its character and are dedicated to preserve it.

At the same time we would like to extend the cottage to gain space for our growing family.

The current heritage act does not support the construction of a second story within the roof valley of our heritage listed cottage. The intent of the proposed second story addition is to keep the integrity of the old cottage intact whilst making use of this otherwise wasted space.

The proposed second story will go up over the back half of the old cottage, not over the front two rooms. The angled roof will provide shading and will tie the second story in with the rest of the building. The image render shows this proposed second story addition.

We believe that the proposed design honours the heritage value of our house whilst providing us additional space without increasing the footprint our the existing house.

We are currently seeking support from local residents with our planning submission.
