Proposed Rules and Actions for the "Astronomy Observation Field" area of Cherry Springs Dark Sky Park

A new set of rules won't help unless they are enforced. I don't see any rules being enforced at Cherry Springs. Pets, plugged in RVs, washing at spigots, people who can't figure out how to quench their car lights when they open a door.

Due to the increased popularity of the park, I have noticed a great decline in the dark site benefits due to human ignorance of what is important to true dark sky observing. I think these rules will help a lot.

Are all forms of cooking using propane type stoves banned?

I totally agree with this petition, and feel that the most important part of it is the last...there simply needs to be more resources expended on this jewel of the state park system. A night ranger at Cherry Springs is not just a good idea, it is essential.

Not only does it make viewing the sky better, but it saves a lot of wasted energy. I purposely only have one small outdoor light and I almost ever use it. A flashlight as needed is a better route to go.

Even though I have moved to South Africa, I remember all the great observing sessions I had at CSSP.

The proposed regulations are a good first step and should be posted online so all are informed. All parties involved at Cherry Springs have to be on the same page. Respect for others and there activities should be respected.
