The "Pledge of Allegiance" is a unifying declaration which has been a staple model for children for decades. However, recently several schools have removed it from their daily tasks, alledging that they did not want to offend other nationalities be reciting it. The "Pledge" has served as a starting point for young children to begin to understand the history of this great nation as well as spurn them to collectively come together as a unified community. Our founding fathers intent for otheir descendants was to recognize a community free and secure in their individual rights. The "Pledge" by its' wording declares "liberty and justice for all." As such, I would encourage and support North Carolina based school systems to reinstate the saying of and discussion of the meaning of "The Pledge of Allegiance" and further promote civic and national responsibility in our children by these endeavors.
