This petition is in regard to Prof. Goldsmith’s exams for MCPHS Worcester campus. There have been several exams in which the majority of students have complained about the content that’s on the exam compared to class content. Professor Goldsmith does not have clear objectives and the bulletin points that she places on the slides don’t correlate to what is on the exam. The other issue is that the wording of the exams are not extensive enough for deductive reasoning due to the fact that they don’t match content of lectures or slides and there are several questions that are akin to each other. When she rarely indicts what content to expect during examination, the material she expressed ends up being not present on exam.

While we understand that this class material is an introduction to what will be needed in other classes and for our profession, there are absolutely no correlations of the questions that she asks to our profession. She has no concern with gaging student comprehension of material and application. In fact, she never asks how exams went, how or what students thought of the exam and she doesn’t address concerns. Prof. Goldsmith also doesn’t break down test statistics or review any exam questions especially concerning application questions. There have been several concerns due to the fact that she doesn’t make time for students and help them improve from mistakes. There is also the problem of her bouncing around to the point where students are having a difficult time understanding information. At this point, it feels as though she is intentionally trying to fail by putting “muddy” questions as she mentioned.

MCPHS should hold her accountable because their goal in having students succeed is being hindered by this professor making students feel demoralized.

GOAL:

Keep her accountable for objectives and to be consistent in exam questions correlating to lecture content

Keep her accountable with announcements made regarding exams content, question, and format

Improve student-professor interaction by answering questions and ensuring student’s academic success
