Marriage is a God given right that has been around since the beginning of time. We should not have to ask permission from the government to marry whom we choose. Marriage is a covenant between man, wife, and God. Recorded history has indicated that the state does not create the right of marriage. Their job is to protect and acknowledge certain rights, duties, and privileges of both the husband and the wife. More than any other unalienable rights, governments through out time have guarded the sanctity of marriage. Obtaining a state marriage license is to acknowledge the state’s authority over marriage. The state can un-license what it has licensed. The state has made itself higher than the God who has ordained marriage. The authority to license implies the power to prohibit. Therefore, they have jurisdiction over your marriage, your children, and every piece of property you own. My goal is to get the State of Idaho to acknowledge a private marriage covenant/contract between a man and wife without the purchase of a state marriage license. Thus making the state responsible for protecting the man and wife in the private marriage covenant/contract. And also taking away the states authority to govern or control any aspect of the marriage between a man and woman in Idaho. Marriage is an institution bestowed upon us from God. Why should we ask for the states permission for a God given right (Gen. 2:18-24)?
