Why are the schools subjecting our children to be bullied and ridiculed?
I just found out the other day that if your child has an IEP he has to walk around with a school id that says ‘SPED’.
A friend explained to me the shame her child endured every day in HS because of this.
They had been bullied, called stupid and made to feel less than by their peers. And the truth of the matter is their IEP accommodations are sometimes no less than a child with a 504 (which I have heard many parents advocate for to not have the ‘stigma’ of SPED on their child’s transcripts).
Why are they forced to have this label on their ID?
Whose business is it what learning disabilities and needs a child has other than that child’s family and their teachers?
Please help and sign this petition to help our children be rid of this senseless label on their
School ID.
High School is sometimes a very hard, difficult time for lots of kids. Peer pressure, and ‘fitting in’ can be nerve wracking.
Knowing how cruel kids can sometimes be why are schools labeling our kids and making it harder.
The accommodations of every child should be kept private.
