Yes, this is so sad that this is still going on. I used to be housed there back in 1983 and the conditions were the same. I pray for everyone that’s there.

My brother is currently in the infamous Attica and was denied medical treatment. He is currently in solitary confinement without proper attire. I reached out to internal affairs and the Gov, no response.

Incarcerated individuals in NYSDOCCS are in a crisis where officers are on strike for extra pay, fewer forced hours of overtime, and the halt of the law that protects incarcerated individuals from excessive confinement and harsh conditions after they break one of the many NYSDOCCS rules and regulations. In the midst of the strike, none of the concerns of incarcerated individuals prior to the strike are even being addressed. Before the strike, an incarcerated individual was murdered in Marcy Correctional Facility, an incident that has been swept under the rug by NYSDOCCS, where correctional officers have the propensity to beat humans, starve them, and generate inaccurate reports that are guided and backed by superiors with the same objective. Prior to the strike, there was a statewide order for all correctional officers to wear body cameras whenever they are in contact with incarcerated individuals. This alone was something officials could not endure because it would expose their unethical, unprofessional behaviors, and often, their racist attitudes and actions. As the strike continues, the National Guard, which the governor deployed into the correctional facilities, does not wear body cameras., the NYSDOCCS created a task force ,where officers wear black tactical gear instead of uniforms and also do not have body cameras. They are adopting tactics used by the National Guard to protect this country, instead of instilling fear in the already confused and overwhelmed individuals they call incarcerated individuals. Visitation for family and lawyers has been suspended, and there are no religious services during an important time called Ramadan for Muslim believers. Access to the law library is denied for incarcerated individuals fighting for their freedom. There is also a lack of medical care for incarcerated individuals who had scheduled appointments outside of the facility due to insufficient staff. Anyone, someone, please help.
