The administration continues to ignore our basic needs while forcing us to trek across campus just to print a simple paper. They think we will give up if they stay silent but this petition proves they are wrong.

The university bureaucracy can no longer ignore how much this common sense demand matters to STH students. We have built enough momentum to force their hand and demand the printer we deserve.

In regards to the question of other people outside STH, this is simple: it is common for schools and departments in universities to have printers that only students of that school/dept can use. I would recommend setting up a release station with access only for STH students, at least for the first semester. Then depending on how it goes, we could discuss opening that printer to others.
It seems a little silly to me, that the library of BU's founding school is without a printer.
This would improve my life MEASURABLY and make it so much easier to do research in the library and homework, without the constant interruption of having to pack up, walk over to mugar, print something, and then come back to keep studying or go to class. PLEASE, please, please - let us have a printer!!
All of the universities I have attended have provided printers in their libraries—one of which provided FREE printing, at that! Even though it seems that technology is continually moving away from the printed document, having the accessible ability to print is still an asset.
Providing this service at the STH library will enable students to easily print documents within our school in a timely manner. Too often a simple printing job of 5-10 minutes becomes a 30-50 minute excursion which eats up time for study and requires physical relocation of study materials from one building to another just to pick up the documents.
I don't always mind going to Mugar if I have one thing to print, but if you are doing anything that requires revisions or if you are trying to spend a chunk of time working, it does get tough to have to go there a couple of times. As the weather gets more challenging, I will deeply appreciate not having to brave the cold for a printout.

Waiting in line at Mugar for sometimes 5-10 minutes during peak hours when one is in a rush is quite the hassle for a busy graduate student. As a "School" within Boston University, a printer in the library isn't too much to ask for.
