Not a good precedent for an esteemed institution with deep Jewish roots.

Please reconsider this ill-advised decision. It's so easy to make sure that anyone can attend -why would you endanger your UJA funding and discourage participation by people who keep kosher? Worse, people who are unaware that this year's dinner is treif may be brought to eat food they wouldn't usually accept. Changing to a kosher caterer would solve all these issues. If costs are involved, all I can say is that the event should have been properly planned in the first place. Please remember this in years to come.

I'm disgusted with this lack of respect shown by the 92 Street Y. If they want Jewish funding they need to keep kosher.

Disgraceful. What kind of messsge does that send? The Y has no respect for Judaism? If you're going to be a Jewish Y -it's the sane thing as being a synagogue of any denomination. You must be kosher. It's a leadership responsibility. It's symbolic and it's Jewish law. Each person can decide for thesmselves at home but not at a public Jewish institution.

Considering it goes against grant regulations, and would certainly make the event unavailable to observant attendees, goes against tradition and a host of other reasons, it's just bad policy and not best practices to have an un-kasher event. Please don't. Keep the gala kasher!

Everyone can eat kosher. Not everyone can eat treif! Why exclude some of our population? Let's include. There is enough division in our lives and within our people.

It is imperative that the 92nd Street Y continue to serve only Glatt Kosher food not only at the May 15, 2017 Gala but at all functions. Be sensitive to the needs of your clientele. People who only eat kosher cannot participate in this event or any event that serves non-kosher food. People who are not kosher can eat kosher. If you break with tradition and Jewish dietary laws, you pave the way for all affiliate organizations to do the same, to the detriment of our people, our heritage, our Torah. Please rethink and take proper action. Who made the decision to change from kosher to traif? That person should be fired.
