This is really a step backwards for the Jewish community. It's a shame.

It would be a shame if this were allowed to happen. The Y will bear the consequences in future years.

Every little thing taken away will make it harder for future generations to keep our laws and traditions which are beautiful.

This is a shameful and discriminatory act on the part of the 92nd St Y administration. There is nothing to be gained by going non-kosher other than alienating fellow Jews who care about kashrut, tradition and the continuity of K'lal Yisrael. All one need do is look at the statistical differences in the rate of intermarriage between those
Jews keeping strictly kosher and those who don't. This was a narrow minded, agenda driven decision on the part of the 92nd St Y administration that should be reversed.

Must be kosher.
Few things have kept the Jewish people through the ages:
Shabbos,
Clothing,
Language,
Kashrut.
Don't break the chain

The Jews in Germany thought they were more German than the blue-blooded Germans. They were killed along with the bearded Chassidim. Let's remember we are Jewish and have obligations

Kashrut is kashrut and as Isaac Bashevis Singer once stated: We Jews are so skilled [rhetorically] that we can make rat meat kosher! Correct this non-kosher gala event to real kashrut.

As someone who works with families who have children with special needs, I can attest that the services the 92nd street Y provide to this population is tremendous and greatly appreciated. However, many of the families I work with eat strictly Kosher. Bringing non-kosher food into the 92nd St Y will not allow these families to be included in the event, nor will they continue to have confidence that the Y will support their religious needs in the future. It is wrongful thinking on the new director in reshaping the Y into something it is not and never was.

I have performed twice at the 92nd street Y and was under the impression that they were committed to being for ALL Jews. The only way to do that with food is to keep it Kosher; anything else is discriminatory against those of all denominations who prefer to keep Kosher. I thought we were past these kinds of biases...

Growing up, I attended the camp at the Y. Layer in, we became members too, prior to relocating to NJ. To this day, we attend events at the Y. It has always respected Jewish dietary laws, even when kosher food was much more difficult to obtain than today.
It is sad that at a time when more people keep kosher than ever, the 92nd St Y would sanction unkosher food at its facilities. I hope this I'll-considered decision is quickly reversed.
I hope you reverse this I'll-consideredbdecidion.

As a member of the Maidman Family that has supported the 92nd street Y It is a shame that instead of continuing to be inclusive they seek to exclude the Jewish mainstream by serving a NONM-Kosher meal

Shameful! Non-observant Jews can still eat Kosher, but observant Jews cannot eat treif.
If you want to advertise yourself as a Jewish organization, then follow Jewish law (the REAL law, not the diluted one). Otherwise, take Jewish out of your name and just be like any other social club.

God did not give us animals to eat!
God did not give us animals to wear as clothing!
God did not give us animals to experiment on!
