I went to a specialized school, it was an art school. It was such an escape from the world I hated so much, and by going there I really learned things. It wasn’t just about the arts, that was a tool that helped me be creative and become a better and more able person. It allowed to be more confident, and really grow into someone I’m proud of today. By implementing this, I think you’d be taking away the changes of many many young kids who’d benefit themselves AND our society. You’d be harming the youth of the next generations all to come.

Equity and diversity is what makes Canada beautiful and wonderful. Phasing out specialized programs contradicts the principles of equality and diversity, and also the Differentuated Instructions in education.

I am currently attending an art specialized school and it has helped me so much to grow as a person and as an artist and I think it is absolutely absurd to take this opportunity and others like it away from other. Some people also need to be challenged or have accommodations for their learning and it is completely unfair to strip that from humble students. On behalf of myself and basically everyone I’ve talked to about this issue we would like you to realized what you would be taking away from so many people and the how boring and mundane tdsb schools would become.

You should not take specialized schools away from Toronto.Kids tried so hard to get in those schools.They studied for months!! It would be unfair to do that to them

I am a former student of the Etobicoke school of the Arts. That school is unlike any school I've ever been to. Everyone is extremely kind and accepting. Best of all, it is a place where students and teachers can express themselves through the arts and how ever they want to. I was in the music program and I learned and improved so much in my perforomance during my 4 years there.
