Support specialized programs & schools made possible by optional attendance!

This is an outrage. What is next - cutting music and arts from the regular day? Handing our libraries over to commercial interests?

Keep the specialized programs but redistribute the money so it doesn't just all go to art schools. Other schools can have some of their arts budget!

Changes to our children's education should require consultation with parents. Our family would like to be involved in that process.

im in wexford for my grade 9 year, and i love it there. i would rather die than get sent back to my home school.

My children and now grandchildren have benefitted from specialized programs in the TDSB. Don't deny others the same opportunities. Improve your other schools. Don't eliminate these great programs!

Why on earth would they think phasing these amazing programs out would be a good thing?

These programs benefit kids. That's more important than saving money. Make the decision with the right priorities in mind!

I think this is wrong. Everyone is different, and students need to express themselves in a way that they can feel safe, and in a way that they love.

one great thing about TDSB is its specialized programs which offered kids choices for their education. Please KEEP THEM!

It's pathetic enough that our tax dollars are used unwisely by the province and municipality for education, resulting in our children forced to deal with overcrowding, lack of resources, limited access to teachers for additional support, bullying issues that don't get dealt with properly, but to now move to remove specialized programs and create what will inevitably be a clustered disaster of children who should have access to education suited to their abilities regardless of home address, is untenable. These specialized programs were created for a reason - to recognize that each child has different scholastic aptitudes and should be able to learn according to their ability in programs designed to put like-minded students together with teachers who educate to those strengths. If these specialized programs are removed, then frankly, parents should have the right to stop paying the portion of property taxes towards the TDSB as it is a mismanagement and waste of taxpayer money that will have led to this disaster and parents will need that money to put toward the skyrocketing cost of private school tuition to pay for the education their children need. To remove these programs that set our education apart from places like the United States will result in the homogenization of our children's education to be like theirs, which is substandard and starves these developing minds of learnings they need to find success in adulthood. If these programs go, what will be next - elimination of French Immersion? This initiative must not pass.

We like tops, MaCS,Ib etc. Program. It offers kids opportunity to share knowledge with othet kids, stydy with kids havr similar interests. It will improve study quality of the kids that are specialuzed in the area.

The TDSB needs to focus on improving the fundamentals in every classroom not adding more chaos to the existing system which is already teetering on the brink of failure. The specialized programs improve the experience of all children by removing exceptional children from the regular classrooms allowing teachers in regular classrooms to focus on their students with minimal disruption. The current system is a win-win. The problems in the regular stream need to be adrdressed. Our children all falling behind - fix the curriculum, reward exceptional teachers, inspire success and leave the specialized programs alone so that our society can flourish by helping exceptional students develop their unique abilities for the benefit of everyone.

People deserve to to go schools they want to go to not the one hey are being forced to

I would strongly say "No" to this proposal, it will take away from the students who are talented but can not effort to private school. Providing educational service to our next generation is not manufacturing products!

My son has an IEP and struggled all through Elementary school mainly because school curriculum is generally geared for one type of thinker... My son is visually gifted which is why music is so important for him . His elementary school SERC class cuts were disappointing over the years and no music program to be seen. Thankfully i found his musical talent early in life and took him to private lessons to allow him to exercise a part of his brain that needed it. He is now in grade 9 Regional arts program, he is shining not only in his music class but doing well in all other subjects. The reality is equal education is not an option.. Not all kids think the same and their is no possible way every school will have the funding needed to accommodate the variety of skills some kids were lucky enough to find early in life! i have seen enough cuts made to my sons SERC class in elementary school now talks of this is stomach turning! DAMN YOU TDSB for even suggesting this!

Please don't phase out these programs, all they are are bigger opportunities for us

Please keep the specialized program as they allow students to be challenged at school. If they are not, they may spend their time outside of the school and harm the society.
