Specialized programs are so important, and I don't think we should be cutting them off at all. Even more so, they should be prioritized in funding. The kids succeeding in these programs are the future of our society and that cannot be ignored.

Phasing out gifted program will be a huge mistake, that is going to leave Canada even more behind on education compare to the States, Europe and some Asian countries. It will be a disaster for this country and for our next generation because education is the soul of our future. Tdsb is ruining it. We should have a say as a tax payer, Don't phase out gifted program!

Everyone who disagrees with the EETF's recommendations should write to their local school Trustee and ask how they are going to vote on the recommendations in December. Although the wording about phasing out specialized programs has been deleted from recommendation A, the EETF is still recommending that resources be realigned and Optional Attendance be phased out.

This would be a very sad decision that would help creating an even bigger gap between rich people that can afford to enrich their children's education through specialized private schools and programs and those who are blessed with talented and gifted children but with not enough money.

My daughter is currently enrolled at Hawthorne II Alternative Bilingual. It's a fantastic way to incorporate French into her education! Don't take that away from her and all the other children that flourish at this school.

Why phasing out programs that are already enhancing equity by offering the opportunity of high-quality education to all families from different neighborhoods and different levels of income? Maybe, you should work on expanding such programs to attract more talented and hard working students to the city.

I disagree with the Task Force recommendation to phase out specialized programs. Instead, the TDSB should enhance opportunities for students to benefit from these programs, while also enhancing learning opportunities for students attending schools in their own neighbourhood.

These programs have been run so successfully. There is no sense to phase out them in the name of equity! Equity can be achieved in many ways. Why choose cutting these programs which have been producing artists, engineers, and great leaders in the country?

I believe that phasing out gifted schools, art schools etc. is a terrible decision. These schools have nothing to do with the wealth of a family; it has to do with the effort of the student.

TDSB Enhancing Equity Task Force (EETF) recommendations are damaging to the education. They do not make any sense whatsoever, I am stunned this idea is even brought up by TDSB for discussion. Specialized programs must continue for children who are born with special talents. These are very narrow-minded recommendations that insult common sense.

This program was such an integral part of developing who I am as an adult. It broadcasts a sad future for the youth of Toronto knowing the opportunity to learn and grow in an artistic environment will not exist in a measurable force.

I Disagree with the proposed changes to eliminate the disparities of schools. On the contrary, I believe competition and varieties should exist to meet the different needs of the students. General schools should be encouraged to learn from those sucesssful programs and improve their quality of education. Eliminating those wonderful programs is harmful to the existing public education system.
