As someone who attended a specialized school and probably would have dropped out of school otherwise I can’t imagine a TDSB without specialized programs.

Specialized programs are extremely important for those kids who don't fit into the regular TDSB system. Gifted kids, kids with a passion for the arts, kids who need more of a challenging and personalized environment. These programs help kids to cope with getting through high school and to learn their own potential. Please do not take these away. In fact, arts programs should be increased in all schools in addition to the specialized programs.

I believe that the arts and specialised programs are important to so many childen and so many different kinds of learners, some who need a gifted program for the chalenges and some find the arts are a way of life I personally want to go to rosedale school of the arts and speaking as a tdsb student the effected schools mean something to me and many people around me.

As there is no hope of adequate funding for these kinds of programmes in every school, the existing ones MUST be maintained and funded properly unless we just want to have every teacher teach to and student learn at the lowest common denominator!

As a TDSB teacher who has taught in a school where one of the programs are offered, it is disheartening that the TDSB would cancel such programs that open up a world of opportunity for students. I have seen students blossom in these programs where they would have gotten lost in the shuffle of a regular program. I have also seen kids with learning disabilities excel in some of these programs because it gives students a chance to express their learning in ways other than paper and pencil tasks, and instead work to their strengths. It would be a travesty for the TDSB to loose the alternative programs it offers. Taking away these programs do promote equality or equality.

Please make this go away. Kids work hard for this and don't ruin their dreams.

I strongly object this proposal. As my son currently participanting gifted program, he benefits a lot from the program from the teachers who have passion to teach more. He is also inspired by peer students who share samiliar interest. I can see many future leaders who are developing themself in those programs. It would be pity those great programs being cancelled.

This would be acceptable if it were possible for every single school to get enough funding for a proper arts program. That is nowhere NEAR possible. Location isn't even a deciding factor for specialized programs, so literally everyone in the GTA is allowed to go to any of the specialized programs, if they make it in. Why would anyone think this is a good idea?
