Toronto needs more specialized programming, not less. Students need to be taught from their strengths, needs and interests. A regular classroom teacher does not have the resources, support or means to teach to the special needs of each student. Without arts, technical and special education programs and schools, students will lose out and teachers will burn out. Let's support kids and the people who want to teach them. Parents can't afford to give specialized programming to their kids privately. Our school board should be great because of how we support the individual.

ESA was my highschool & it not only changed me as a performer but as an individual. It has taught me how to interact with others better, how to be more open to new ideas & overall how caring and loving educators can be. All while allowing me to practice my passion
Everyone should be entitled to this opportunity

You cannot get rid of some specialized programs but not others. Just because YOU don’t identify with the arts doesn’t mean a billion others in 2017 don’t , take away sports programs too if you’re taking the arts programs away????? Like helllo common sense idiots.

Children can really benefit from specialized programming. Please work on improving access but don't take it away from students!

One size does not fit all. The more specialized programs, the better! We are all special, we are all worthy, they money spent on this report would have been better used to start more such programs to help all students be all that they can be!

Claude Watson is the best program offered in Toronto. I think school broad should extend the program to more relented students rather than close it down.

Please do NOT phase out specialized programs. Our children need these programs and once they are gone, they will be gone forever!

By eliminating optional attendance schools, the TDSB will displace thousands of kids who require learning environments tailored to their needs. As a kid who was in specialized programs for 7 years, I can attest to how necessary and life-changing these programs are. The TDSB needs to rethink this idea before they rob kids of these programs and the opportunities and crucial support systems that they offer.

Toronto is known worldwide as a contributor to the arts. Diversity in education should include the arts not omit it!!

I strongly believe that specialized programs should be an integral component of our education system. They provide kids without access to specialized private schools the opportunity to become engaged in their education and to meet like-minded individuals. The solution is not to get rid of specialized programs - rather, it is to create more so that people from marginalized communities can still access them. Making everything mediocre for everyone will not improve any body's education.

As a graduate of the Etobicoke School of the Arts, and a current engineering researcher at NASA, I was fairly disappointing when I heard the TDSB was considering phasing out these schools. I attribute much of my career success to my time spent at ESA. I am signing this petition to support access to programming such as ESA.

I went to this highschool and graduated class 2011. I adored everything about this school, the teachers, the program and the sports were amazing here. ESA made my friends feel comfortable, challenged me in my academics, and pushed my art in a way my University Art degree never could! ESA is one of a kind, and I can’t imagine ESA being taken away from future students.
