As a former student of the Etobicoke School of the Arts I am scared to think one day the arts will be treated like an afterthought. Apauled actually.

Horrible as many students have special needs and specialized programs help them work through their social issues, or even better gear them towards the future they want such as Art or an opportunity to go into IB to better be prepared on a more national higher level education. It’s just summed up in one word: stupid

I went to Earl Haig SS. in the Claude Watson program and am now a Governor General's nominated playwright. Claude Watson played an integral role in my artistic path, I would not be the award winning artist I am today if it were not for that program. Also, it made me love high school, for a kid who would have been very "different" in another high school, I was able to be my original artistic self, fully respected due to the program. Please do not get rid of such important programs for those kids who do not fit into the "general" categories! Keep artistic-born kids happy and doing what they are naturally inclined to do!

Although the purpose outlined is to be more inclusive, the proposals seem more about funding and liability.
Specialized programs and schools, which meet the diverse needs of all students, make the school system more inclusive. Being inclusive must also acknowledge and/or celebrate differences, or else they must seek the lowest common denominator in all areas.
Needless to say, I am vehemently against phasing out specialized programs

please do not cancel these- the claude watson program was excellent in every possible way. It is the reason I am doing what I am doing now, as an architect/ landscape architect.

Why not address issues or marginalization like TTC bus fair. This is ridiculous. If your considering this then add French immersion to the list. Regular high school don't have dance programs as an option instead of gym. We can be all things. My kid travels 1 hr to go and feels lucky to attend.
