Prevent Salient's remodel of the Orangeburg disc golf course

I do not support the remodeling. Don't do it!

I agree with all comments about Salient's bad reputation from first-hand experience. They seem to have very little respect for the game - much less the heritage that made the sport what it is today.

Don't listen to a word of this crap from Bill Stafford. The locals are the only ones keeping the course playable. I personally have taken my riding mower on several occasions. And countless others have done the same. Grass cutting, tree & bush trimming, etc. The bridges were built by Tom Madsen and his scouts. And why???? Because the local P&R thinks it's not time to cut until you can't see your own knees. There was no fair warning. There was no communication before hand. The offer of bag tags and discs was taken because it was that or nothing. There was a relationship between a member of the Chamber and Salient before any deal was made. This is an inside deal and a hope of financial gain for Salient.

Salient is a very nefarious voice in the disc golf community, especially here in South Carolina. Their sub-par products and absolutely horrid customer service has proven to alienate business outside the state, as well. The owner of Salient has been caught cheating his way through disc golf tournaments, and now he is trying to cheat Orangeburg out of what is already a GREAT disc golf course, he is trying to cheat the Orangeburg Parks and Recreations out of a park that draws many visitors each year, and MOST IMPORTANTLY: Salient is trying to cheat the disc golf community of Orangeburg (and surrounding areas) out of countless hours of hard work. This is an outrage.

These shady people should not be allowed to change a course for their own financial benefit.

This company and it's intent to take over pre-established venues and manipulate the current structure of the sport to gain financial wealth is the biggest black eye of disc golf.

Check Salient's side before signing blindly. There are always 2 sides: "Salient Discs was asked to present a redesign proposal to the Chamber of Commerce and the parks dept. All changes were approved and full implantation is nearly complete. The reason for redesign is the area in the center of the original front nine is not playable most of the year due to flooding and has become a local hazard. A few locals (that could be found) were informed but do not have a established club registered with the city and the city has ZERO contact info for anyone that is said to be part of this "club" which makes it difficult to communicate. With that said the local course representative Tom Madsen was informed and agreed to give support where needed and Salient Discs would help reinvigorate the club with bag tags and custom stamped discs. The locals who were not adequately active in keeping the entire course in good shape should be grateful for Salient leading the way to a course that's not under water or in soft ground and mud 9 months out of the year. The 18 current holes are the best that can be done on the property that's available. As the original member and President of the Orangeburg Disc Golf Club, TD for past events in the area and designer of the red tees as well as the extra holes across the road near the river not one individual has dedicated more time than myself to the local course since 2003.

Stop Salient.

Listen to the players who don't want you to destroy their home away from home, Salient. Don't be that guy.

It is the right of the people who developed the course to have final say on changes to the course. They took the time to create something that we could enjoy as fellow disc golfers. I believe that it would be wrong to surpass them solely because you have the money to do so.

Salient should either build their own courses or show respect in consulting the local players who gave of their time and labor to construct the course. This kind of carpetbagging bodes ill for the future, where disc manufacturers might have sway enough to override locals. Dangling meager cash or merch does not help the sport in the long run.

Love that course and never liked anything about Salient.

Salient is bad for the sport. They are all about money instead of growing the sport. I was sponsored by them but had to let go because they are also bad business.

Salient is known to be a less than reputable company. They arent loved by the disc community, and the remolding of this course by them would be an insult. Let the local club continue to maintain the course as they are the ones enjoying it. Please Salient, leave disc golf alone.
