Most folks in our Tea Party and grass roots movement find it regrettable and unacceptable that Passaic County Community College and Rutgers University - among numerous others - remained opened on Presidents' Day while these same colleges and universities along with Government offices and institutions were (appropriately) closed in observance of Martin Luther King's birthday last month.  The decision not to honor - arguably - two of our greatest Americans does a disservice to the community, the country and most of all our students.

Clearly, in the case of PCCC, it would seem to belie their own

"Nondiscriminatory Policy as to Students and Employees"
which states:
Continuing its policy to support equal opportunity for all persons, Passaic County Community College does not discriminate on the basis of race, gender, color, age, creed, religion, national or ethnic origin, sexual orientation, military status, or physical or mental disability. This policy applies to the administration of Passaic County Community College's admission, employment, educational, scholarship, loan, athletic, and other programs and practices.

We ask that you revisit and revise this policy.

Sincerely,

Jeffrey M. Weingarten

Keep the schools closed. Give the students the day off so they can actually learn something about who built this country.

Ridiculous that schools ignore presidents day. We need to teach the next generation about our history instead of just skipping over it.

ABSOLUTELY DISGRACEFUL. Taxpayers fund these colleges and they should respect the founding fathers.
